June 17, 2008: Day 1
I was imagining the Senna Tea working wonders immediately overnight. In fact, that is what I dreamt about. About 6:00 am, I had an urge to go use the restroom. When I woke up, I was thinking that this was the beginning of what they call the rush to the bathroom, so I wanted to get it done quickly. As I stood up, I realized it was only the need to do a normal urination. I then went back to bed.
8:30 am
I woke up with a need to eliminate. It was not as urgent as I have been told. It was a major intestinal pain, so I figured I would be best served getting out of bed and going to the bathroom. It was not a rush to go, just a typical, “Hey, I need to eliminate.” But I could still feel the intestinal movement, and it was quite painful.
8:40 am
I made the Salt Water Flush. I took it on an empty stomach like they say to do. Well, when they say that this is not a very appetizing thing to drink, I can attest to that. What does it taste like? Well, try drinking 4 cups of your own sweat, and you might get a sense of what I am talking about. Nasty. I just chugged it because I figured that I did not want the taste in my mouth any longer than I had to. After half of it, I realized that I may not be able to finish it. It just never seemed to go away, or diminish in quantity. WHY? Well, when I finally got to the last couple swallows, my body started to reject some of it. So, I would say less than a mouthful came back up and I spit it out. I then finished the last swallow. I was so tempted to drink some water to wash down the taste, but thought the better of it. I figure that I will let the concoction work its supposed magic.
I read that some people do not seem to eliminate quickly at first because of their diet in the past couple days especially. Like, if you have been consuming a lot of meat or dairy in the past week. Yesterday I had to get rid of my chocolate milk, so I drank about a half gallon of it. So, that might explain some of my relative constipation this morning.
9:05 am
I am starting to feel the Flush work through my body. I may have to rush into the restroom soon…
9:30 am
Well, I felt that it was coming, so I preemptively went to the restroom. A couple major movements, and I feel good. I can definitely feel the saltwater in my fingers and feet. I am starting to swell.
11:30 am
Well, I just had my first “meal” of lemonade. Man, that did not taste too good. I felt as though I would not be able to drink the whole thing. If I can’t drink one glassful, then how will I able to make it the next 10 days? I cringed every time I took a drink. As I have read people’s experiences on this cleanse, they usually say that they rather enjoy the lemonade, and they think they will continue to drink it after they have gone back to normal eating. I say absolutely no way. Maybe they say this because they become attached to it. I mean they have not eaten regular food in such a long time that they crave this one thing that they can eat/drink. In psychology, they might say it is projecting their feelings of hunger onto the drink. Toward the last swallow I started thinking it might not be so bad.
Lemons sure don’t make a lot of juice. One lemon made a little over 2 tablespoons of juice. So, I will need to use 1 lemon for each cup of the lemonade. I think I will be trying several different combinations of the drink to see which one I can stomach the best.
1:30 pm
So, I was just reading and saw that for the first timers, and those who have been having issues with BMs (bowel movements) lately that they should drink the Tea in the morning as well as night. Just until they become regular. So, I messed up this morning. It should be fine, eventually. I also read on the tea bag that I am supposed to cover the Tea and let it steep for 10-15 minutes. I did not do that yesterday. I think I drank it after 5 minutes. That also might explain why I did not have the extremely urgent need to go this morning. What can I say, I have never made tea in my life. I was never a fan of tea, although I did have iced tea when I was a child. In other words, I am inexperienced at making and drinking tea, which does not help me in this situation. Oh well, I am going to drink another cup now.
4:00 pm
I tried the Agave/Lemon mixture. It was about the same as the Maple. I still could barely choke it down. But I do think that I will be able to handle the taste before long. I haven’t felt hungry yet, but that is not new. I can go a full day without eating and have no problems. I would stuff myself and not feel like eating until the next day. I wasn’t trying to do it, it just happened.
1:00 am
I decided that the lime and Agave combination wasn’t too bad. So, here it is 10 hours after I had a cup of the Tea, nothing came out yet. I am hoping that is because I have been drinking other liquids that diluted the potency of the Tea. I just had my next cup, it wasn’t nearly as bad as the other two.
